Lima, Pa.—July 19, 2010—Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, today announced revenue and shipment figures for the second quarter of 2010, ending June 30. The company reported revenue for the quarter of $94.9 million, up 27.5 percent from the same period in 2009.
Pilot saw the substantial increases across all segments of its business, including international shipping, logistics, home delivery and domestic expedited air freight. The automotive sector saw especially strong growth throughout the quarter. Additionally, June marked the largest month in company history in terms of the number of shipments and total weight handled, resulting in a 32.9 percent increase in revenue over June 2009.
“After a tough year for the shipping and logistics industries in 2009, we’re seeing a major turnaround in 2010, as shown by the strong numbers from Q2,” said John Hill, Executive Vice President of Sales for Pilot. “While the economy still has a long way to go, Pilot has managed to not only survive what we believe was the worst of the recession, but continued to evolve and expand our service offerings, while staying strong in each of our core business segments.”
