Not long ago someone referred to the period of time from October to December as, “Octember.” That’s how fast things move these days. The fourth quarter is condensed into what seems like a single month. And it’s no wonder. Like everyone else at this time of year, amid the bustle and distraction of the holidays, we at Pilot are moving double time.
In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a lot going on at Pilot. This is always an extraordinarily busy time of year for us. This trend appears to be increasing with each passing year, particularly in the area of Home Delivery services.
Consumers have come to rely heavily on e-tailers for major holiday purchases. In some cases, these represent the biggest purchases of the year. Companies including some of today’s largest online retailers, in turn, depend on us to get that freight to their customers, quickly and efficiently. That puts us right in the middle of the holiday retail rush—and serves as a reminder that our business is about more than moving freight. Behind every shipment is a story, a personal commitment, and sometimes even a holiday wish.
Coming through for our customers on a consistent basis is good business. At this time of year, it’s also something we can all feel good about.
