 | Satisfying late
night cheesecake cravings by the
truckload. | | Pilot’s John Kelly of Buffalo,
NY, had already worked an all-nighter the previous day, when a major bakery
customer called late Friday. 71 cheesecakes had to be at 71 different
restaurants around the country by Monday morning. After getting the day’s freight out, John
and his driver trucked 2 1/2 hours north to the bakery’s Syracuse, NY facility.
Arriving at 2 am, they packed a pallet of cheesecakes in dry ice and shuffled
back to Buffalo. By 5 am, the cakes were repacked in separate dry ice
containers, then driven to the airport and expedited for Monday delivery. John’s dogged
determination paid off. All 71 cheesecakes arrived on time. John’s story is just
one example of the distance Pilot people go to become a shipper’s best
friend.
