Recently, Pilot became a $500 million company. This alone is an amazing achievement. Something each and every person here can and should take great pride in. But what strikes me most about this accomplishment is what it says about the importance and the power of setting goals.
$500 million! Not so long ago it seemed impossibly out of reach, almost absurd given the state of the economy and the rate of growth in our industry. And yet, here we are.
…Because we had the audacity to set such an ambitious goal in the first place.
…Because we have a team of people dedicated to the success of this company and unflinchingly committed to doing whatever it takes to get the job done.
…Because we are unafraid to stretch and reach and push ourselves. Beyond ourselves.
Along the way we made some difficult choices. Took some calculated risks. Put in a lot of hard work. But most importantly, we made a commitment. We set our minds to the task, made a plan, and made it happen.
That’s the power of goals. And the more ambitious they are, the more powerful they become.
